Bless This Mess: A Sketch Comedy Show

Due to some performance schedule conflicts, I wasn’t able to be in the cast for this show - but I did join the team as a writer and…sorta…director…ish. Anyway, it features maybe my favorite sketch from any show I’ve ever done ever, so you should come see it. Three performances only!

—————————————————————————————————————

Put on your Sunday best and come down to Judy’s Beat Lounge for a church lock-in with Bless This Mess! Bless This Mess is a show that's open to everyone, so come as you are, ready to laugh. If you grew up in the church, have driven past a pun-filled church sign, or even watched "7th Heaven" once, you're invited to see this irreverent (see what we did there) take on Christian pop culture.

Bless This Mess - March 31, April 7 & 14 at 6PM in Judy's Beat Lounge at The Second City, Chicago

WRITTEN and PERFORMED by:
Annie Jackson
James Pomeroy
Matt VanEpps
Michelle Leatherby
Sam Brady

With Additional Writing From:
Ben Auxier

A send-up of the modern political debate process, The Primary features world-class improvisers debating issues both real and absurd in this interactive exercise in the theatre of politics. Audience members will provide questions to the debaters, who will also prove their ability to govern through fast-paced politics-themed improv games. During intermission, the audience will vote to eliminate candidates before watching the final two politicians duke it out to be elected The President of Improv.

In addition to entertainment, both shows will feature opportunities to help voters understand elections and ballot initiatives that don’t get as much attention as the marquee races.

“There are plenty of opportunities to get educated about big-ticket races like governors and congressional seats, but what about understanding more about the Illinois Court of Appeals judges up for election or retention or untangling the legalese behind the seven ballot measure in Missouri this year?” says co-producer and cast member Justin Parlette. “The whole point of these events is to let some steam out and laugh to ease the anxiety building up around the midterms while also helping voters make informed decisions using non-partisan research.”

In Chicago, the venue for The Primary holds a special significance. “Two of the stage lights in their theater are from the CBS studio where Nixon and Kennedy held their famous debate. I can’t think of a better space to hold a mirror up to the absurdity of modern political debates than under those lights,” Parlette said.

The Primary will run in Chicago Thursday, October 25th at 8 pm at The Cards Against Humanity Theater at 1551 W Homer St, Chicago, IL 60642, just off Ashland and Elston Ave near the Clybourn Metra stop.

Free, ample street parking is also available!
